This layout was created to showcase one of my favorite photos of these three! It was taken at my brother's wedding, which explains the suits and ties, but what I love most about this photo is the smile on Alyssia, Caleb and Zach's faces and the obvious affection they have for one another. This hug was not posed.
Jim and I were so blessed in the fact that our kids got along from the first time they met! They were genuinely excited to spend time together. Blending two families into one takes a lot of hard work and prayer! If the kids didn't get along, I don't know how we would have been able to navigate a relationship.
I meant every word of the journaling - all three of them have brought me so much joy and I love watching their relationship continue to develop. I can't imagine my life without them.
Scrapbooking Tips:
I love everything about this layout . . . and I almost didn't buy this paper collection from Simple Stories because I wasn't sure it would go with any of the photos I needed to scrapbook, but I loved the colors and patterns.
I actually created this layout for a Sketch Support Challenge that Scrapbook Generation hosted on one of their virtual crops. The sketch featured a two-page layout with a big heart cut out on the left page, with a row of 4x6" photos across both pages. I decided to create a one-page single photo layout - and this was the perfect photo.
One area of scrapbooking I struggle with is creating embellishment clusters, despite watching many YouTube videos and studying Allison Davis layouts. I was so pleased with the cluster here. I layered multiple stickers with different thicknesses of foam adhesives and overlapped them. I added enamel dots to the center of some of the flowers and then added more to the clusters. For some of the bigger flower centers, I added Nuvo drops for a glossy effect. Word stickers and small heart stickers completed the clusters.
For my title, I used a large Smile sticker from the collection. The letter stickers I had thought of using didn't quite match the red of the heart. Using a large sticker from the collection was a perfect fit. I also used it as my journaling prompt. I had originally planned to write about being at my brother's wedding, but that Smile sticker made me realize that every time I looked at this photo, I smiled.
When I approach any scrapbooking project, I typically have an idea in mind. In reality though, the pages I love the most are the ones where I approach the project with an open mind and experiment with ideas, colors and products. It's a great creative escape for me.
