There is something so sweet about watching a little kid play in the first snowfall of the year! I loved the smiles and squeals of laughter coming from Zacharay has he played in the snow. I snapped so many pictures and made multiple layouts because the pictures turned out so well. One of my particular favorites was him throwing snow at me - and if memory serves me - he got me good!
Scrapbooking Tips:
I used a 6x6 paper pad from The Stamps of Life for this layout. I cut out 6 - 3"x4" rectangles and created the snowy backdrop for the left page of my layout. Following an Allison Davis sketch, I used 6 - 3"x4" photos on the right page. To tie in the two pages, I stitched a border around both pages.
A technique I frequently use is to mix up the letter stickers in my title. I loved the shiny silver Thickers I used to spell out "snow", but they were too large to create the first part of my title. My go-to supply in this case is Tiny Type stickers from Doodlebug Designs. I used white stickers to spell out "Playing in the Snow". Sometimes, depending on what I have already used, I may need to mix upper- and lower-case letters in a title. The English major in me resists, but the cheapskate in me wants to use what I have on hand!
I love the look of stitching on layouts, and in this case, I used a template from We R Memory Keepers to punch holes to stitch these large, focal point snowflakes. When I stitch, I use two strands of embroidery floss. However, on this layout, I used one strand of white and one strand of turquoise, just to create some visual interest. To further help my snowflakes stand out, I added some bling that had come in The Stamps of Life monthly card kit I had just received. I liked how it brought attention to the snowflakes without introducing another color, and they didn't take away from the photos.
This layout is one of my all-time favorite winter layouts.
