Phantom of the Opera

My mom and I love going to Proctor's Theater to see great musicals. Our top two favorites are Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera. We had gone to see Phantom once before, but our seats were not very good. When I saw The Phantom of the Opera was coming back to our area in the spring of 2019, Jim and I bought my mom a ticket so the two of us could see the play from the 6th row!
It was an incredible night! Being that close was an amazing experience. The only downside to a night like this is you can't take many photos. The curtains were up when we walked in, so I took a picture of the set and the infamous chandelier that was covered when you first walked in. During the overture, the chandelier is uncovered and swings down into place, and during intermission I took another picture. But those and a selfie was the extent of my photographs. I incorporated my ticket stub along with the front cover of the program as a reminder of an incredible night.
Scrapbooking Tips:

Whenever I can, I try to incorporate memorabilia onto my layouts. Collecting memorabilia is actually how I started scrapbooking! I would save everything as a child - movie ticket stubs, church bulletins, receipts, cards that came in flowers - you name, I would save it. There is also so much information like time, date, place, cost, etc. on a lot of memorabilia. It can take the place of your journaling at times.
In this particular layout, I knew that I wanted the program cover and ticket to play a large part of the design, so I made them the focal point. The color scheme matched The Phantom of the Opera embellishment I purchased to use as my page title, so I put them at opposite ends of the layout to balance my design.
Again, because I didn't have many pictures, I wanted to do something creative to dress up this layout and I came up with this border all on my own. With pencil, I lightly free hand drew a loopy border. I did end up erasing parts and redoing some of it, but when I was satisfied that it had even margins around the page, I poked some stitching holes.
After my stitching was complete, I used my Silhouette to cut out a ton of music notes. I then placed them around the border, randomly grouping them to "fill in" the border. They also covered awkward angles and loops. I did not want to stitch through the program cover - I wasn't sure if the glossy paper would cooperate - but it looked a little weird having that be the only place you didn't see the border. My solution was to place a music note on top of the program and that helped fill the space without creating too huge a gap in the border.
I love this page. I love it was a memorable night with my mom, and I love that I did all I could do to preserve the memory.
