Have you ever had a photo that you just love and want to devote a whole layout to? That was the case for this photo Jim had of the girls. I fell in love with this picture of Alexis and Alyssia and the bright pink just jumped right out at me. I love the lush green background too!
I love seeing pictures of the girls when they were younger. It's a bittersweet feeling. I wish I could have known them when they were little. When I came into their lives, Alexis was 17 years old and a senior in high school, getting ready to head to college out-of-state. Alyssia was 11 years old and in fifth grade.
One challenge I find in scrapbooking older pictures of the girls is I have no context for them. I don't have dates, and most locations I don't recognize. I depend heavily on Alyssia to help fill in the gaps. She even organized and labeled photos for me to help me when I go to scrapbook those pictures.
It's important to me to scrapbook some of the girls' of childhood. I feel like it is I way I can show my love for Jim and the girls that I take the time to preserve their memories before we blended families. I don't have the same number of photos of them that I do the boys, but there still is a lot! I will be working on this project for years, but it's one of my scrapbooking goals.
Scrapbooking Tips:
I followed a Scrapbook Generation sketch to create this layout. I loved the simplicity of it and the fact the single photo is the main feature. You can also use 6x6 paper pads or scraps. I had actually done this layout multiple times before - and it is so quick and easy to pull together. It literally can take as little as ten minutes! Below are two additional layouts with the same design:
In Gangnam Style, I used a horizontal 6x4" photo. The great thing about this design is it can accommodate horizontal or vertical photos.
In Think Geek, I used only two different patterns of paper instead of four different ones.
Using a sketch and the same design multiple times is a great way to get more layouts done in less time! This is definitely my go to design for single photos. To ensure my layouts still look unique and special, I challenge myself to make my layouts look a little different every time I repeat a design.
