Do you ever take pictures that just make you smile? That was the case with the photo on this layout. Every single time I look at it, I smile! The story behind this photo is that Alexis, Alyssia and I were riding together a family bridal shower. I sat in the back seat with Azzy. By the time we were on our way home, she had had enough. She had been passed around, was tired and cranky and hadn't had a nap. To top it off, she did not want to be in her car seat. I took this photo just as she was getting ready to cry! I love how at only four months old this little girl was able to tell us exactly how she was feeling without a single word!
Scrapbooking Tips:
I had a single photos sketch from an Allison Davis 6x6 paper pad class that I thought would be perfect for this photo. I also had a teen girl paper collection from Echo Park that I wanted to use up, and it just so happened it had theses adorable emoji stickers and paper.
When I am creating a layout with a single photo, I try to strike a balance between the design and the picture. I don't want the layout to take away from the story the photograph is telling. When flipping through my supplies, the emoji stickers caught my eye and then the title came to me. It was the perfect complement for the memory I wanted to share.
I placed the emoji stickers in an obvious visual triangle and kept my embellishments simple. I wanted the picture to be the focus. To learn more about creating a visual triangle, visit https://www.scrappingmyblessings.com/post/going-home
I was working from a sketch, and following it closely, and it showed the stitched borders. I decided to add them to my layout with bright pink embroidery floss to create a bold border. Without the stitched lines, the 8x8" square seemed to blend into the white cardstock base.
This layout came together quickly, and I still smile when I see this photo!
