Create Your Own Embellishments Series

Updated: May 26, 2021

I LOVE when I find the perfect embellishment for my layouts – and if shopping for scrapbooking supplies is one of your hobbies, you know the feeling I am talking about! You have the most adorable photos of your child or pet and you’ve been searching for the perfect pattern paper to do your pictures justice. When you finally find that paper, you create your layout and have the perfect journaling but it’s just missing “something”. You may set it aside, rummaging through your stash, but nothing seems quite right. Then, while walking the aisles of your local craft store, IT jumps out at you! The perfect embellishment (or sentiments or flower, etc.) but it is so expensive!

While I still shop and fork over my hard earned money for the PERFECT embellishment, I realize that I can not do that all the time, or I will really go broke with this hobby! So, I got creative one day and want to share with you my process for creating a perfect embellishment, for a fraction of the cost.

I make no apologies when I say that I don’t rush my scrapbooking process. I would rather have a layout sit unfinished for a little while to get my creative juices flowing, than rush the process just to complete a layout, where every time I look at it, I will get the feeling that something is missing.

My go-to techniques to create the perfect finishing touches for my layouts are:

Stamping

Paper Piecing

Pattern Paper Fussy Cutting

Using up my Stash

So follow along for some embellishment inspiration!
