Golf

I love that my husband has hobbies. He not only has hobbies, but he has one for every season. He has a passion for hunting and ice fishing which he does in the fall and winter. Then two years ago, he took up golf which can occupy his spring and summer.

We live down the road from a golf course, and on more than one occasion while driving past it he would comment that he didn’t know how anyone could golf. "It's too slow paced," he would say. Famous last words . . . Jim went golfing with some guys from work for a team building event. He came home totally hooked on the sport! He didn’t just like golf - he LOVED golf!

I took these photos of him on a golf course in South Carolina. He had to spend three weeks there for work and I flew down to be with him a couple of days in the spring of 2021. Our time together was short and sweet and spent mostly on the golf course; however, I don’t golf. So, I took pictures of him and planned the scrapbooking layouts in my head.

I’m glad Jim has his passions - and I really don’t mind. I know how much I benefit from the time I get to be creative in my scrapbooking obsession - I mean passion - and I know he benefits from it too. He comes home to be a much better husband and father after a round of golf.

Scrapbooking Tips

I created this layout around a couple of die cuts I made using my Silhouette Cameo. I used a frame over a photo I wanted to be my focal point and then matted it in a bright colorful dotted paper. I then created the putting green and made it large enough to fill some space on the left side of the layout. I placed the flag pointing in the direction of the other photos to draw the eye to the pictures.

How I adhered the die cuts and photo mat down is where I got a little creative. I adhered the putting green die cut first. Then I added the photo mat but only put adhesive tape on the bottom and sides of the paper, so it created a pocket. I then used the pocket to keep my husband’s score card from that game. It had the name of the golf course, the date and his score so I didn’t feel like I had to add any journaling. This is a great technique to use if you ever had memorabilia you want to keep with your photos. I’ve used it many times over the years.

The right side has a large green mat and I thought it looked a little plain compared to the left side, so I added two more golf balls with tees to create a visual triangle.

I am proud to say that this layout was featured in the summer 2022 issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine.
